Family and Friends,   Sister Datwyler and I are going to be pros at knocking on doors by the end of this Transfer. We have fun as we pick topics to share each day to become better at our door Approaches. Funny story we picked to share the restoration and I was sharing about prophets to this sweet lady but as soon as I said prophets and how we have a living prophet on the earth today she got very angry and expressed loudly how she does not believe it. We will have to keep working on that approach.  Our weekly Book of Mormon class is going super well as more less active members join!  This week we decided to go to the park in the evening and talk to everyone we saw. It was actually so effective and we loved it. We met Lisa who was picking berries. We got talking and found out she had been going to a Bible study class so I shared with her how we love to read from the Bible too and then I taught her about the Book of Mormon and she agreed to read it!  We k...

By Small and Simple Things - July 25, 2017

Family and friends! By small and simple things are great things brought to pass.  This last week has been a good one full of knocking on many of doors. We didn't have very many appointments and Ryan who is on date was not able to meet with us last week. We did communicate with him on the phone and he sounded like he was trying to drop us... But we are not quite sure. So we went over to the Bass family who he lives with and set up Another appointment to have family home evening tonight with them and we pray that Ryan will be there.  On Tuesday we did Service at the garden next to our church. We peeled garlic! It was so much fun. I definitely want to have my own garden someday but I don't know if things would grow as good as they do here in Oregon. Also the beans we planted a few weeks ago are growing so tall. When Sister Datwyler and I planted them we sang "Faith is like a little seed. "  it is so fun doing service. We also stared our Book Club on the...

1. Sister Brown and I  Family and friends!  There are so many fun and exciting things that happened this week and I have been so excited to tell you about it since last Monday evening! After P-day we had Family Home Evening with the Bass family. They are a less active family who have a young man named Ryan living there,  dating their daughter. Ryan is not a member of the church and the Bass family are converts. So we went and taught the restoration! Sister Bass and Brother Bass gave great testimonies as we taught. Ryan had great questions and was engaged in the conversation the whole time. Sister Datwyler went to extend the baptismal invitation and Ryan cut her off. But we didn't give up and asked him to be baptized and he said Yes! It was so exciting! We will be seeing them tonight too!  On Tuesday the Chinese sisters who are the sister training leaders needed a ride to Eugene for a training.  So we woke up early and dropped them off at the training as ...

Family! Thank you so much for all your sweet letters. I loved reading each one of them today.   (many were sent from the Leavitt family reunion in Hagerman Idaho) I am so thankful for all the love and support I have from family and friends!  This week was great but I can't believe it went by so fast. On the 4th of July we had a pancake breakfast with the ward. We invited many less actives and investigators but only a few showed up. It was a pretty good turn out as for the ward and the food was great. We knocked many doors that day. We had to be home early that night so Sister Datwyler and I had a movie night where we watched Mormon messages and had popcorn.  On Thursday we met President and Sister Orton and what a blessing it was to see them! It was so comforting to be in their presence again and they were so sweet making sure I was doing okay. They also wanted to know all about the family. It was nice talking to my family to someone who truly knows how great you...

Family and friends!  This week we had another lesson with Jessica who is a sweet lady we found knocking on doors. We taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ to her. And when we were talking about the process of repentance she said she felt very comfortable with all of it. She grew up catholic and does not like how things were done there. So she has a hard time committing to coming to church but I think this week we will give her a church tour either at the church or the app that explains it so she feels more familiar with church before she comes.  So Friday, we had alot going on. President and Sister Russell ended up staying a few days longer due to President Orton's 99 year old father passing away.  It was also new missionary training in the morning. Where I get to role play with the zone leaders and sister training leaders. Long story short. They showed up and I the new greenie had the lovely privilege to role play the plan of salvation to the President and sister Rus...

She's a TreeHugger on the Right Track! June 26, 2017

Family and friends! Wednesday started out going to a small village north of Corvallis called Adair. We tracked one street for a while, maybe 45 minutes without much positive response. We turn the corner and begin talking with a few people. None were interested, but they were good conversations that we left feeling positive about. As we walk back to our car we spy a man outside washing his car. We stop and start talking to him! It turns out he is fairly familiar with the missionaries, he lived by members in Portland who housed missionaries. Sadly, when we asked if he had received a Book of Mormon, he replied, "No, I've never seen one!" You can imagine we corrected that pretty quickly!! We handed him the one in our bag and as we walked away he called out saying, "I am going to read this book!" What a miracle to start the day! It's crazy to think You could live by members for a long time and missionaries in that fact and Never been invited to read the Boo...
