Name tag pictures are the best!

This week has been incredible. We had a few lessons and it has been very neat to see the Lord place things perfectly.

This week we had a lesson with a former investigator named Paula. She is Native American and has alot of family that lives with her as well. She has been investigating the church for a little bit. When we went over to teach her we planned on teaching her about prophets. We asked where she was at in the Book of Mormon and she was in Mosiah 18! Power Scripture of Baptism!!! We threw out the plans and read the scriptures with her. Not a Coincidence that she was on that chapter. She wants to be baptized soon and I am super excited to be teaching her.

So last week we met a 16 year old named Jaden who we had a great conversation with about the Book of Mormon. We stopped by to visit him and he wasn't home but we talked to his brother Johnathan who answered The door and we talked to him for a while. We found out he had to go back to jail the next day or something like that so we set up a lesson to come back that evening when he and his brother would be home. When we came back Jaden was sick he got drunk that day with his friends and it was hitting him pretty hard. So he didn't stay very long to talk. So we talked to Johnathan and answered so many of his questions about Mormons and he had read the restoration pamphlet between the time of meeting him earlier that day to that evening. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he is able to take it with him to the jail plenty of time for him to read. So that was pretty cool. We still have to figure out policies on if we are able to teach him but he has been making huge changes in his life already and was super interested in learning more.

We had a ward Halloween party this week which was a blast. It's hard getting to know people when they are in costumes haha but it was fantastic. Destanie came and the young women were over the games for the primary kids to play.
We had a lesson with Destanie right after. Her baptism is in two weeks. We are super excited!!!

Yesterday Sister John and I both gave talks in church. I spoke on gifts of the spirit and Sister John spoke on prayer. Just a few of my notes from my talk...

Elder Orson Pratt of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles explained: “Whenever the Holy Ghost takes up its residence in a person, it not only cleanses, sanctifies, and purifies him in proportion as he yields himself to its influence, but also imparts to him some gift, intended for the benefit of himself and others. No one who has been born of the Spirit, and who remains sufficiently faithful, is left destitute of a spiritual gift”

Paul’s message to the Corinthian Saints was simple and direct: Nothing you do makes much of a difference if you do not have charity. You can speak with tongues, have the gift of prophecy, understand all mysteries, and possess all knowledge even if you have the faith to move mountains, without charity it won’t profit you at all (1 Corinthians 13:1-2)

This morning we went on a hike with Destanie. It was so beautiful! We were able to look out over Cottage Grove.

Cottage Grove is going amazing! I love it here so much! Haha yes popcorn is always a good study tool. I am Staying so much warmer yes. Thank you so much. I found some rain  boots but it hasn't been to bad this week. But I hear the rain usually starts Halloween so I guess we will find out.
The work is fantastic. Our teaching pool is still kinda small but working with Destanie makes it all Worth it. We have had a few teaching appointments and their are people it's just been difficult to meet with them on a regular basis. We still knock on doors which is always exciting. Sister John doesn't like to trakt but we do it and have found ways to make it enjoyable. This last week she suggested to go knock on doors so I think she is liking it alot more. I think it's always an interesting experience. Last night we were actually knocking on doors. It was like 8:30pm most people aren't very nice that late at night but the work must go on. It was a miracle we were able to find a new investigator share the book of Mormon and set up a time to meet with her hopefully this next week. So good things are always happening.

I hope you all have a great Halloween and are all doing well. I love you!
Love Sister Leavitt
