Service and Blessings- December 4, 2017

Family and Friends! 


This week we have been staying super busy contacting former investigators. We have had so many neat experiences. And have enjoyed lighting the world each day with different activities. 

On day one we wrote thank you cards to the sweet families that fed us on Thanksgiving. And the cards we gave were made by a sweet lady in Oregon who can't get out much so she spends most her time making cards to give to the sister missionaries to write thank you notes on. How cute is she!!! 

On day two we made water bottles that had light the world on them and gave them to homeless people. That was really special it made my day knowing that we could help them out in such a small simple way. It's kinda funny my parents taught me all my life not to talk to strangers and now I'm here in Oregon seeking them out,  knocking on their doors to talk to them. Haha I love it so much! Tracking has become one of my favorite things to do!

On day three we took an extra blanket we had in our apartment and wrapped it up to give to one of our sweet investigators. She a bit older and has some eye problems going on, she's missing most of her teeth and when she smiles it warms your heart. She doesn't have heating in her apartment so we thought it would be a perfect gift for her. The moment of seeing these peoples face when they receive something they are in need of is priceless. 

This week we had a pretty hard day, we knocked on many doors and were just not having luck in finding someone who would let us share the gospel or even a Christmas video. Sister Evens and I were a little discouraged sitting in the car Sister evens decided to look through our contacts on the phone. She found Carmen a former investigators we decided to go visit her and again rejection because it was to late at night. It was only 7pm yep it's pretty dark by 5. So we decided to knock on the house next to hers. We met a man named Tom Evans! He said we were lucky his wife didn't answer the door because she would have slammed it on us. Blessings!!! We were able to share the Light the world video with him and introduce the Book of Mormon. The we walked across the street and met a man named Erik who had talked to Elders on Campus. We asked if the Elders had given him a Book of Mormon and they didn't so we were able to share it with him as well! It was such an amazing opportunity the Lord blessed us with! 

We also met with a former named Shasta who I haven't seen in about 7 weeks. She is pregnant so we  were able to help her out do some dishes for her and talk about how she met the Sister Missionaries in the past. 

On Saturday we went and visited all out investigators to remind them about church. Every single one of them was either sick or out of town. Although we didn't have any investigators show up we met a lady Tracy who hasn't been to church in 7 years! She was baptized when she was younger but it was so neat to have her be there. We got her information and she said she would love to have us visit with her more. Heavenly Father is absolutely amazing! Many Good things happening! I absolutely love sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

Someone left us gifts on our door! It was so sweet of them. Don't know who it was but it sure makes Christmas time special!

Sister Kiera Leavitt has always wanted to serve a mission! Kiera was blessed as an infant to serve a mission and her Patriarchal Blessing mentions several times about serving a mission.  When the age for girls was lowered, Kiera was ready to go even though she was still years away from age eligibility! She has planned and worked for it intently over the last 3 years.  She set a goal to finish Cosmetology school after graduation from Snow Canyon High School in May 2016.  She very seldom missed a day of school because she knew that she would have to make it up and that would extend her time further to be finished as well as possibly costing her more money if she happened to go over her time limit (in which she never even came close to! But she wasn't going to take any chances!) Kiera graduated from Hairitage Hair Academy in November 2016. Her plan was to work about 6 months so that she would have enough money to support her own mission.  So off to work at Fanta...

Blow The Door Off- March 15, 2018

Zone Temple Trip Family and Friends!  Lots to catch you up on. Hope I can remember everything I did. We have stayed super busy and we are not slowing down. This transfer is just flying by.  So on the 6th we had MLC. Which stands for Missionary Leadership Council. It was my first time going and it was so much fun!!! So many of my past companions were there, like Sister Allred and Sister John! We were able to council all togther of how to help the mission improve and what things we can do. What a huge blesisng it is to see that side of missionary work!  Sister Allred & Sister Leavitt One part I really loved about MLC was goal setting and planning. We talked about how we as missionariesare are really good at setting goals and making plans but we need to have a vision. Zone conference! Sept 19, 2017

Dear Family and Friends!   This week was such a spiritually uplifting week. On Thursday we went to zone conference where Elder Scott D Whiting and Elder Adilson De Paula Parrella of the seventy came and spoke to us. They allowed us as missionaries ask what ever questions we might have.  Some things I really enjoyed from the talks was  "it's only after pondering that you receive revilation" we need to practice pondering so we allow the things we learn to sink in and allow revilation to come.  Have you ever been in a conversation where someone talks to you and asks you for advice or questions but they don't allow you time to answer or talk?  Are we allowing the time in our prayers for Heavenly Father to answer us or are we just asking and interrupting because we keep talking?  "make a focus on one thing.
