Exchanges- May 28, 2018

Family and Friends! 
This week was a bit rough as we have been working with our investigators trying to resolve some big concerns in their lives. But with that said I know it is truly the gospel that brings families closer together. 

This week we had interviews with President Orton and it was such a wonderful spiritual experience. And as we talked with Sister Orton, she gave us each DOTS and asked what it means to us to Depend on the Savior. Man so many things rushed through my head in that moment but I shared how I felt it was to rely on him and allow him to help you through your hard times. That each of us have gone through a time when we express to a friend our challenges and they say "I know how you feel." And the thought goes through our mind, no you don't, you don't truly understand. But the Savior is our friend and he does truly understand because the atonement is so personal and he felt your feeling to understand you! Yes, we all go through similar experiences like having a death in the family and I believe that is for the purpose of fulfilling the commandment to mourn with those that mourn but each of us exspirence a completely different learning process as we goes through this time called life. 

We also had exchanges this week. Sister Woodruff and I were together and we went to her area. (Riverside area) we first taught a lesson to their on date investigator Mike! We taught him the 2nd half of the plan of salvation. It was really neat to see his understanding of Christ atonement come. He is really excited about being baptized but is concerned about giving up coffee. But the cool part was he had just read 1 Nephi 3 and so we turned to that scripture and read the promise that the Lord would help him keep the commandments! 

Then that evening we had a lesson with a 16 year old boy Michael. He is very intelligent and at age 14 really started studying the Bible. He had amazing questions that I have never thought of before. We talked alot about the natural man and how everything good comes from God. I exspressed to him how God truly works through young people like Samuel in the bible was but a "young lad." And Josph Smith was 14 when he saw the first vision. It's incredible to see the young generation searching out eternal principles.

The exchanges were really good the next morning we walked along the sidewalk of the parade and handed out Books of Mormon. We handed out 41! I was so proud of the riverside sisters for getting out there and working hard!

Sister Kiera Leavitt has always wanted to serve a mission! Kiera was blessed as an infant to serve a mission and her Patriarchal Blessing mentions several times about serving a mission.  When the age for girls was lowered, Kiera was ready to go even though she was still years away from age eligibility! She has planned and worked for it intently over the last 3 years.  She set a goal to finish Cosmetology school after graduation from Snow Canyon High School in May 2016.  She very seldom missed a day of school because she knew that she would have to make it up and that would extend her time further to be finished as well as possibly costing her more money if she happened to go over her time limit (in which she never even came close to! But she wasn't going to take any chances!) Kiera graduated from Hairitage Hair Academy in November 2016. Her plan was to work about 6 months so that she would have enough money to support her own mission.  So off to work at Fanta...

Blow The Door Off- March 15, 2018

Zone Temple Trip Family and Friends!  Lots to catch you up on. Hope I can remember everything I did. We have stayed super busy and we are not slowing down. This transfer is just flying by.  So on the 6th we had MLC. Which stands for Missionary Leadership Council. It was my first time going and it was so much fun!!! So many of my past companions were there, like Sister Allred and Sister John! We were able to council all togther of how to help the mission improve and what things we can do. What a huge blesisng it is to see that side of missionary work!  Sister Allred & Sister Leavitt One part I really loved about MLC was goal setting and planning. We talked about how we as missionariesare are really good at setting goals and making plans but we need to have a vision. Zone conference! Sept 19, 2017

Dear Family and Friends!   This week was such a spiritually uplifting week. On Thursday we went to zone conference where Elder Scott D Whiting and Elder Adilson De Paula Parrella of the seventy came and spoke to us. They allowed us as missionaries ask what ever questions we might have.  Some things I really enjoyed from the talks was  "it's only after pondering that you receive revilation" we need to practice pondering so we allow the things we learn to sink in and allow revilation to come.  Have you ever been in a conversation where someone talks to you and asks you for advice or questions but they don't allow you time to answer or talk?  Are we allowing the time in our prayers for Heavenly Father to answer us or are we just asking and interrupting because we keep talking?  "make a focus on one thing.
