Follow the Spirit- July 2, 2018

Dear family and Friends, 



This week was a good week. We did alot of work and I have learned so much. 
On Tuesday we had exchanges with the Coos Bay sisters. Sister Neely and I were companions and we went into her area. I really enjoyed doing companionship study with her as we studied the new updates made to Preach my Gospel. So if you haven't seen them yet go check it out! I am so excited about the new changes happening. It truly is spirit led. Sister Neely and I picked it apart and read alot of the new information. I loved her excitement and love for the gospel. She has really helped me as we have been studying how to become a consecrated missionary together. We then went to a lesson with one of her RC who is 11 years old. The sisters made an uno game and when we drew the draw 2 card we were asked a gospel question and if we got it right we didn't have to draw two. Their RC loved the game! Man those sisters are so creative! We had Sister Gillis come with us to the lesson and then she came out tracting as well. I have never seen someone so excited to do missionary work. She wants to serve a proselytizing mission with her husband so they study PMG together. She jumped right in and talked at doorsteps. It was such a blast!

Wednesday: We had a lesson with Barbra she has now gone 12 days without drinking coffee! It's amazing to see that the spirit is really helps a person to change. It's amazing to be able to watch the Lord work and help people throughout their lives. We had a lesson with Chris who is a recent convert and his wife Kayla. They both taught us the Plan of Salvation. And they taught it really well. It's different being the one taught but it raised up alot of good questions that we were able to help find and clarify. Tonight we had a meeting with the Zone Leaders because part of the new changes in preach my gospel is how new missionaries will be trained. They have an outline of things that we can have them teach but the order or how long we spend on each one is completely up to the spirit and what the trainers think will help the new missionary the best. 
We are definitely moving into a higher plane as a church, depend fully upon the spirit. 

Thursday: We met with Ruby who is preparing for the temple. She shared with us how her son had passed away a while ago and when she found out she could be sealed to him for eternity, I wish you could have seen her face light up with excitement! What a blessing it is to be able to preform ordinances that last beyond the grave. 

Friday: District Council! Elder Olsen helped us all learn about personal revelation through prayer. I really enjoyed it and it has helped me to make my prayers more meaningful. I have started a prayer journal and it's been a blessing to write down the thoughts that come to my mind when I pray. 
We went and helped Sister Gillis paint her fence and then that evening she fed our whole district because none of us had dinners. It was such a spiritual exspirence as we were all able to share our favorite scriptures. It definitely brought us closer together as a district family. 
This evening we had a lesson with Fernanda she is 12 and preparing to be baptized. We had President Garcia and his wife come with us. We read about the tree of life and how there are many temptations to pull us of the path but that we need to hold strong to the rod. Fernanda asked President Garcia to baptize her. They have been family friends for a long time. It touched his heart that she would ask him. His wife shared how her son had prayer for Fernanda for years that she would accept the gospel. Prayer is so powerful. President Garcia then shared about when he was young driving down the road he saw an old lady walking with groceries. He felt prompted to stop. It was Fernandas grandmother. That is where the friendship began. Never postpone a prompting you never know what it will do for that person, and for future generation's to come. 

Saturay: we were trying to figure out what street to tract on. So I told sister Dalton everytime we got to a cross road we would say which was we were feeling to go. Every time we did we said the exact same way until we felt prompted to stop. We got out and almost every person on that street opened their doors and talked with us. We met a man who had just lost his son, and a man who on the doorstep realized what his next step was to grow his relationship with Jesus Christ. Miracles! 

On Sunday, we studied about the prodigal son and how he "came to himself." He was able to change his life and make that turn necessary to repent. No matter how undeserving you may feel of God's love he will always take you in his arms and celebrate when you take that turn and return to him. Each Sunday is a great time to "come to ourselves and see how we can improve.

Sister Kiera Leavitt has always wanted to serve a mission! Kiera was blessed as an infant to serve a mission and her Patriarchal Blessing mentions several times about serving a mission.  When the age for girls was lowered, Kiera was ready to go even though she was still years away from age eligibility! She has planned and worked for it intently over the last 3 years.  She set a goal to finish Cosmetology school after graduation from Snow Canyon High School in May 2016.  She very seldom missed a day of school because she knew that she would have to make it up and that would extend her time further to be finished as well as possibly costing her more money if she happened to go over her time limit (in which she never even came close to! But she wasn't going to take any chances!) Kiera graduated from Hairitage Hair Academy in November 2016. Her plan was to work about 6 months so that she would have enough money to support her own mission.  So off to work at Fanta...

Blow The Door Off- March 15, 2018

Zone Temple Trip Family and Friends!  Lots to catch you up on. Hope I can remember everything I did. We have stayed super busy and we are not slowing down. This transfer is just flying by.  So on the 6th we had MLC. Which stands for Missionary Leadership Council. It was my first time going and it was so much fun!!! So many of my past companions were there, like Sister Allred and Sister John! We were able to council all togther of how to help the mission improve and what things we can do. What a huge blesisng it is to see that side of missionary work!  Sister Allred & Sister Leavitt One part I really loved about MLC was goal setting and planning. We talked about how we as missionariesare are really good at setting goals and making plans but we need to have a vision. Zone conference! Sept 19, 2017

Dear Family and Friends!   This week was such a spiritually uplifting week. On Thursday we went to zone conference where Elder Scott D Whiting and Elder Adilson De Paula Parrella of the seventy came and spoke to us. They allowed us as missionaries ask what ever questions we might have.  Some things I really enjoyed from the talks was  "it's only after pondering that you receive revilation" we need to practice pondering so we allow the things we learn to sink in and allow revilation to come.  Have you ever been in a conversation where someone talks to you and asks you for advice or questions but they don't allow you time to answer or talk?  Are we allowing the time in our prayers for Heavenly Father to answer us or are we just asking and interrupting because we keep talking?  "make a focus on one thing.
