Sister Leavitt & Sister Davis



So transfers happened. Shannon the lady we are teaching got up early to drive Sister Dalton and I into Roseburg. It was easier saying goodbye because I know I will be seeing her at MLC this next week. I know she is going to love Grants Pass because I loved it so much there. Once we hit Roseburg we did the swap and picked up Sister Davis. She is from Kaysville Utah! She was out for about 3 months when she got injured and sent home from her mission. She spent a bit of time at home questioning why the Lord wasn't allowing her to be out doing the work. Her requirements for coming back on a mission was to walk 6 miles without pain. It was a long hard road for her but as she shared her testimony of the things that happened back at home, it was all for a reason. It was a blessing  for her to be able to watch her father be baptized while she was home as well. Her first convert. She has a powerful testimony. 

It was a blessing for us to spend a few hours with Shannon in the car she opened up quite a bit and we were able to hear about her background with religion. It was neat to hear how she wished she grew up with some sort of knowledge or religion. She wants her kids to be able to have that. We talked about being raised with beliefs but always having the agency to be able to choose that. 

This week we had a lesson with Barbara and Nick we taught the plan of salvation and the importance of family history. We had the Latommes who are the stake family history consultants come with it. It was such a great lesson and Nick and Barbara are both super excited to fill out there information. We hope to get them on track to find family names to take to the temple!

We have had some pretty amazing miracles this past week. One day when we were planning, Sister Davis and I were looking up a street to go knocking on. At the same time we were looking at the exact same street. We knew immediately that there was someone we needed to find there. So as we went out and worked we went to the street. The first few doors were hard doors shut! Until we met another Shannon! She has the prettiest curly hair and of course I couldn't help but talk about hair with her! She is such a sweet lady. She didn't grow up with much religion in her home but she believes in Christ. It was very neat that we were able to share our testimony of Christ and his atonement. We left her with a restoration Pamphlet. I'm excited to go back and see her.  

We also had a lesson with a Recent Convert Natalie. She moved here last week from California and was baptized a few months ago there. She is so cute and bubbly. Next week she wants to teach us the lessons and show us some of the object lessons the Elders taught her. She has such a strong testimony and it was neat to hear about her conversion story. She had Mormon friends but tried to hide from the missionaries for a long time haha. 

Things are going pretty well here in Coos Bay! I love the work and the people and the ward members who are so willing to help us out. You! Are the ones that make the difference! Keep being disciples of Christ and sharing the word of God! Love you all so much!

Sister Kiera Leavitt has always wanted to serve a mission! Kiera was blessed as an infant to serve a mission and her Patriarchal Blessing mentions several times about serving a mission.  When the age for girls was lowered, Kiera was ready to go even though she was still years away from age eligibility! She has planned and worked for it intently over the last 3 years.  She set a goal to finish Cosmetology school after graduation from Snow Canyon High School in May 2016.  She very seldom missed a day of school because she knew that she would have to make it up and that would extend her time further to be finished as well as possibly costing her more money if she happened to go over her time limit (in which she never even came close to! But she wasn't going to take any chances!) Kiera graduated from Hairitage Hair Academy in November 2016. Blow The Door Off- March 15, 2018

Zone Temple Trip Family and Friends!  Lots to catch you up on. Hope I can remember everything I did. We have stayed super busy and we are not slowing down. This transfer is just flying by.  So on the 6th we had MLC. Which stands for Missionary Leadership Council. It was my first time going and it was so much fun!!! So many of my past companions were there, like Sister Allred and Sister John! We were able to council all togther of how to help the mission improve and what things we can do. What a huge blesisng it is to see that side of missionary work!  Sister Allred & Sister Leavitt One part I really loved about MLC was goal setting and planning. We talked about how we as missionariesare are really good at setting goals and making plans but we need to have a vision. Zone conference! Sept 19, 2017

Dear Family and Friends!   This week was such a spiritually uplifting week. On Thursday we went to zone conference where Elder Scott D Whiting and Elder Adilson De Paula Parrella of the seventy came and spoke to us. They allowed us as missionaries ask what ever questions we might have.  Some things I really enjoyed from the talks was  "it's only after pondering that you receive revilation" we need to practice pondering so we allow the things we learn to sink in and allow revilation to come.  Have you ever been in a conversation where someone talks to you and asks you for advice or questions but they don't allow you time to answer or talk?  Are we allowing the time in our prayers for Heavenly Father to answer us or are we just asking and interrupting because we keep talking?  "make a focus on one thing.
