Conference Weekend & Shout Out, Oct 8, 2018

Hey y'all! Shout out to my mom! Today's her birthday and I love her so much! I'm so greatful for her teaching me about the gospel from a young age. She has helped me to be the person I am today.  This week we had some amazing things happen. We got a referal from the Nebraska Elders. Gary is moving here to North Bend in about a month. We were able to call him and get a hold of him. He is super excited to meet with us and he has been reading the Book of Mormon. A member in Nebraska was at a park and met him and gave him the Book. Members are the best!  They have kept in contact since. The cool thing is Gary has been reaching out to us and keeping us updated on what's going on.  So this week on Tuesday we thought it was missionary leadership training in Eugene. We drive to Eugene and pull into the church parking lot....all we see is our zone leaders. Where is everybody? Lucky for us a lady who was there to practice the piano unlocked the door so we could use the r...

At the Temple with Sister Davis Family!  It's only been a few days but it's been a few awesome days! The temple was just what I needed. It is a place where I can go and upon leaving I always feel so much peace. I'm greatful to be able to go to the temple on my mission. This whole work is about the covenants we make with the Lord. I learn so much everytime I go. It's truly the House of the Lord.  On Friday we made a trip down to Brookings to spend a day with the Sisters there. It was fun to see their area and meet people they are working with. I was grateful for the time to talk with sister Bodtcher an old companion and catch up. We went running on the beach in the morning and of course for lunch nothing better then fish tacos by the ocean. I was with Sister Hamilton for the exchange and we went to contact a former person being taught. Her name is Kayla. She has such a powerful conversion story to God. She came from a very hard background, lots of hard drug...

On the drive to Waldport  Dear family and friends!  We are heading to the temple today! We won't have much time to write but just a quick update on this last week and a half or so. We had MLC in waldport. I absolutely loved it. President Orton took us to the beach to have some ponder time at the end. It was so beautiful to sit by the water and reflect on the things we had been taught and to set goals for ourselves. I enjoyed seeing alot of my past companions as well.  My frog and I picture  We also had interviews with President and Sister Orton. Those are some of my favorite meeting to be able to talk to President about the things we are learning. As I was waiting for my interview President Orton came out and Said "Sister Leavitt do you mind if I embarrass you for a moment?" Oh no! I thought what did I do this time? To give you some background Presidnt Orton at a meeting a few months ago told all the missionaries to not have "frogs." (For t...

It's getting real people!  Here is the letter for Sister Kiera Leavitts' return.  Her time is coming closer for her return.  This is not what Sister Kiera wants to hear right now so we will let her continue to work and serve to the best of her ability! ****************************************************************************************************************** Dear Parents and Family, We are currently working on the travel documents for Sister Kiera Leavitt‘s return home, even though it seems very early.  Release date is Wednesday,  December 5, 2018 .  Release dates are determined by the Church, and travel arrangements are made by the Missionary Travel Department.  Please be aware of the following information when making plans for the return of your missionary:  Missionaries should complete the full term of service for which they are called.  Under normal circumstances, neither they nor their parents should request early r...

Elder Willits being picked up from his mission by his younger brother and sister Alyse. Pictured with Sister Leavitt, Sister Davis Family! This week was transfer week but lucky for us we didn't have to go because my companion and are are both staying together. We have set some goals this transfer that we are super excited about. Every morning we have decided to get out and run. We run back and forth down our street because we have different paces but it had been so nice getting out.  We met some amazing people this week 1. Shannon, we were on this street and it was kinda a scary looking street and no one was interested. I kept thinking "Heavenly Father why are we here?" I just didn't feel drawn to any of the houses. We knocked on all the doors and are just a couple feet away from our car when someone pulls up right behind us. It was Shannon. She didn't believe in a God until she went to a Christian college. She shared how that was a life changing mome...
