Gratitude, November 5, 2018


Hey Family! 
Not sure if I'll have lots of time today to email because we are heading off to Eugene. It's been such a fun crazy week. I think I blinked one to many times. It's been eventful with Halloween and being mistaken as trick or treaters. We had a blast going to the Aurduals (our ward mission leaders house) where his wife decorates the inside and outside of her house. We also went to the Johnston's who made us homemade rootbeer! We ate lots of food and had a good time dancing to our Christian music until bed time. 
This week we had lots of lessons, we met with Barbara and Nick and taught about the priesthood. He is super excited to recieve the priesthood and Barbara is working on getting her recommend for the temple! 
This week I was fighting off being sick but the Lord has provided for me each day and we've still been able to work. 
On Saturday we had a family history day where Sister Denison and I helped people sign up and get accounts. It was so neat as we helped lots of members and nonmembers. So many amazing stories about ancestors. Don't take for granted the time we have with the people living around us. I know the Vail is very thin as I have felt my ancestors watching over and protecting me. 
If we are being completely honest family history doesn't sound exciting. And sometimes it makes us feel so small, but I think it's meant to help us feel small. We are talking about eternities here! No wonder there is a reason we feel so small doing it. But we have an opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. The spirit of Elijah is so real! It's been amazing to watch youth in our ward feel that spirit and get excited about finding out where they come from. I would invite each of you to take a little time and find one new thing you didn't know about your family. 
We also had a lesson with Shannon and Jorge this week. It's been a long journey with them and not always the easiest. They have helped me search out questions I have never considered. They have helped me wondered and expand my mind more than I ever have but along this journey we have found alot of joy. This week they expressed their gratitude towards the patience we have had with them and allowing them to take the time they need to recieve their answers. We talked about the baptism questions and although they still have a few things before they will set a date to be baptized I was amazed to see the growth in them. It's moments like that, that make every moment of the mission worth living. It's amazing to see the change in someone's life knowing of a surety that God is real and loves them. 
My biggest lesson I learned this week is finding joy in our trials. It's easier to be greatful for trials when we reflect and can see why we needed to go through them or how they made us stronger. But I pray I can have Joy and gratitude during my trials in life. I believe the secret is seeing the positive things happening and being grateful for the things we have been given. We are all going through hard times, each of us. I pray that you each can find happiness in the expirence of life no matter what circumstance you may be in.

Sister Kiera Leavitt has always wanted to serve a mission! Kiera was blessed as an infant to serve a mission and her Patriarchal Blessing mentions several times about serving a mission.  When the age for girls was lowered, Kiera was ready to go even though she was still years away from age eligibility! She has planned and worked for it intently over the last 3 years.  She set a goal to finish Cosmetology school after graduation from Snow Canyon High School in May 2016.  She very seldom missed a day of school because she knew that she would have to make it up and that would extend her time further to be finished as well as possibly costing her more money if she happened to go over her time limit (in which she never even came close to! But she wasn't going to take any chances!) Kiera graduated from Hairitage Hair Academy in November 2016. Her plan was to work about 6 months so that she would have enough money to support her own mission.  So off to work at Fanta...

Blow The Door Off- March 15, 2018

Zone Temple Trip Family and Friends!  Lots to catch you up on. Hope I can remember everything I did. We have stayed super busy and we are not slowing down. This transfer is just flying by.  So on the 6th we had MLC. Which stands for Missionary Leadership Council. It was my first time going and it was so much fun!!! So many of my past companions were there, like Sister Allred and Sister John! We were able to council all togther of how to help the mission improve and what things we can do. What a huge blesisng it is to see that side of missionary work!  Sister Allred & Sister Leavitt One part I really loved about MLC was goal setting and planning. We talked about how we as missionariesare are really good at setting goals and making plans but we need to have a vision. Zone conference! Sept 19, 2017

Dear Family and Friends!   This week was such a spiritually uplifting week. On Thursday we went to zone conference where Elder Scott D Whiting and Elder Adilson De Paula Parrella of the seventy came and spoke to us. They allowed us as missionaries ask what ever questions we might have.  Some things I really enjoyed from the talks was  "it's only after pondering that you receive revilation" we need to practice pondering so we allow the things we learn to sink in and allow revilation to come.  Have you ever been in a conversation where someone talks to you and asks you for advice or questions but they don't allow you time to answer or talk?  Are we allowing the time in our prayers for Heavenly Father to answer us or are we just asking and interrupting because we keep talking?  "make a focus on one thing.
