Happy Father's Day! June 19, 2017

Sis Datwyler, Sis Leavitt, Elder Willits, Elder (Companion) Dear family and friends,  This week was pretty good. On Tuesday we went and did service at the Lutheran giving Garden. We dug up a bed and planted new beans to grow. They give all there food to local food banks. It was great to meet new people and help the community. I loved gardening plus I've been studying a lot about faith this week so each seed I planted I kept thinking about different scriptures about faith. One thing I loved is faith produces miracles. So as long as we continue to have faith we will continue to see miracles!  The fruit and vegetables are so good here most are home grown too. The members feed us pretty well We do a lot of finding here right now, trying to grow our teaching pool. We found two new investigators this week and I am so excited to go back and teach them.  We taught Ed again this week and I enjoy teaching him. He always has great thoughts and a new perspective. Huge p...

Oregon Eugen Mission email from Pres & Sis Russell -June 12, 2017

My Dear Beloved Missionaries, Families, and Friends of the OEM, This week begins the last interviews and zone conferences for Sister Russell and I.  We so look forward to being with you!  It is the highlight of our work here.  As we visit, we feel of your love for Jesus Christ and see you almost growing right before our eyes. We will not have any matters of concern this letter inasmuch as this week is zone conference. Now for the heart of this week’s email: I would like to share with some of you a reminder and for others of you special teachings from Elder Dallin H. Oaks: “The fundamental purpose of missionary work is to teach the word of God that men and women cannot be saved in the highest degree of the celestial kingdom, without faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.  Further we teach that the only way to lay claim to the ultimate merits of His Atonement is to follow His commands: repent and be baptized and receive the gift of the Holy Gh...

First Week! - June 12, 2017

Family! I made it to Oregon! It is so beautiful. The plane ride was so fun the sisters let me sit by the window and they all laughed because I was so excited when the plane took off. It was so much fun! Flying into Oregon I have never seen so much green in my life. But it is so fun because there are deer and turkeys everywhere. I live in the basement of a members home and they are so sweet.  I'm in Corvallis and I was able to meet the bishop the first night. He is very involved in the missionary work which makes it so great that we have people to contact and visit.  Sister Datwyler is my companion and she is the Best! She is super sweet and puts me to good work every day.  We went and visited Ed who had been dropped by the missionaries a few months ago for not progressing. He has taken the lessons many times but doesn't want to leave his native American culture. He is such a sweet man and the first time I saw him he said "you're not use to doing this are you...

Let the Truth be known- May 6, 2017

Dear friends and Family, This week week was amazing. On Tuesday I was able to host the new missionaries coming in. I was also able to host Madi Esplin. (Lexie would know her they ran track together.) I ran into Elder Webster too. We had 24 new missionaries come into our zone.  We had in field orientation on Thursday and that took us all day long but it was really good. I can't believe how fast this week has gone. I look back and feel like I just got to the MTC. I have grown so much more than I ever thought someone could here. The MTC is so amazing!  On Sunday (which is my favorite day) I was able to walk around the temple. I love going to the temple. Sunday night I watched Elder Hollands talk called open your mouth. I just want to share part of that with you. He said " The truth must be stated to be know" that may sound so simple but if we don't open our mouths and share this gospel then how will it be known? So many times in the scriptures do we hear the ad...

MTC Week 2- May 30, 2017

Dear Family and Friends,  This week has had its high and lows for sure. It started off on a definite high! We had a Devotional on Tuesday night were a special guest came and spoke to us. Elder Renlund came and we got front row seats! I was in a trio that day with a sister from our zone and all of then flew out but she couldn't because of her eye. It was a blessing for Sister Allred and I because she had connections and got us the seats. Before he came in the missionaries were all singing "the Spirit of God" it was incredible the spirit is so strong when we all join in song. Elder Renlund and his wife spoke about the sacrament and the importance it has on our life. I love that he said "The sacrament is always the next ordinance that we need to do after baptism, endowment, etc. We always take the sacrament after doing it." He also said "Jesus loves to forgive but he also loves to fix broken things so let him fill your gaps." At the End Elder Renl...
