Me reading the sealed portion of the Gold plates 😂 Sister Davis and I trying to run with the Gold plates (about 50 pounds) 💪 Friends and Friends,  I can't believe this week flew by. We are keeping busy that's for sure.  Monday: We met with Raymond. He told us he was atheist when we first met him but after our lesson Monday night I think otherwise. He had read 3 Nephi 11 and loved it! He has studied lots of religions in the past and even read the bible. He loves reading. As we were talking about what he read he told us that he just doesn't understand how to apply it in his life. Bingo! That is why we are out here doing what we do! We taught him about the Godhead and he thought it was very neat. He asked us our favorite chapters in the Book of Mormon and he plans on reading them along with the other things we asked him to read!  Tuesday:  Man what a day! We had to take our car in to get fixed along with the Brookings car. They all have a recall...

Family and Friends!  Coos Bay This week has been a pretty fun and a busy one. We started off with exchanges with my girls! Sister Hoffman and I were together and Sister Howes and Davis were together. We went into the Coos Bay area and had a lesson with one of their recent converts Aubrie. She is 11 years old and is preparing to go into young women's. We read through part of the young women's personal progress. She is super excited to go into young women's! Other amazing moment that happened this week was our lesson with Chris and Kayla. Chris was baptized a few months ago. All week we were trying to come up with fun ideas to make their lessons more enjoyable. After eating dinner we sat down in their living room. Sister Davis a little nervous and laughing pulls out a can of Chile representing Satan and the pressures we get hit by in the world. Then her finger reprenting us. She lays her finger firmly on the table in just the right way....and slams the can on he...

Dear family and friends,  What a great week! On Tuesday last week we went to the beach as a zone and had such a blast. Lots of the sisters were building sand castles and we played some ultimate frisbee even though it was cloudy outside.  So this week were given a list names from bishop and his wife of people in the ward to go out and find. Sister Davis and I had so much fun finding these people. One address we went to the house was completely demolished I guess that's what happens sometimes. You never know what you are going to find. We have contacted almost every person on that list. We were also able to meet sister Hershubrger. She recently moved in and she is pretty much bed ridden. But that doesn't stop her. She's got her Book of Mormon by her bedside and every Sunday she listens to 3 hours of the spoken word on tv. She had some of her members from her last ward stop by this week and she asked them to get a hold of her new ward for her. Well we were already ...

Family and Friends, Sister Leavitt & Sister Davis So transfers happened. Shannon the lady we are teaching got up early to drive Sister Dalton and I into Roseburg. It was easier saying goodbye because I know I will be seeing her at MLC this next week. I know she is going to love Grants Pass because I loved it so much there. Once we hit Roseburg we did the swap and picked up Sister Davis. She is from Kaysville Utah! She was out for about 3 months when she got injured and sent home from her mission. She spent a bit of time at home questioning why the Lord wasn't allowing her to be out doing the work. Her requirements for coming back on a mission was to walk 6 miles without pain. It was a long hard road for her but as she shared her testimony of the things that happened back at home, it was all for a reason. It was a blessing  for her to be able to watch her father be baptized while she was home as well. Her first convert. She has a powerful testimony.  It was a ...

Serving Others = Serving Him - July 30, 2018

Hey Fam! The keystone of our religion is the Book of Mormon We started off our week doing service at the fair. We helped the ward with their annual scone booth fundraiser! Man was it a good time! It was fun being out in the community and helping.  This week we had two lessons with Shannon and Jorge. The first one we went over Alma 32 about faith. As we talked I realized that after their studies in the Book of Mormon and praying they still have not received the answer they are looking for. They know that it is promised and they have been doing alot to try and receive that. I think teaching the Holy Ghost on my mission can sometimes be the most difficult. We can point it out in lessons etc. But when it comes to them being by themselves....the holy ghost speaks to us all differently, personally. So it is for them to learn and understand. The next time we went back we watched the pattern of light videos. After each one we would take a moment to write down thoughts and impressions...

Sister Dalton and I Family and Friends! The weeks just seem to be getting faster and faster. This last week has been a busy one. Monday was our Zone preparation day. We all went to the beach and played some football. It was a foggy day but I always love just seeing the ocean. We had a fun time playing games at the church after and Sister Sheer made us all homemade pizza. It was a blast! On Tuesday we had exchanges with the Bookings sisters. (Sister Clark and Hamilton.) Sister Hamilton and I spent the first part of the day together. We went and did service at a thrift store where we sorted through lots of clothes. We went back and had lunch and companionship study. It was good to sit down with her and talk about differnet things she can do in missionary work. We went through their area book and talked about the people she is working with. When we went tracting she did amazing. Jumped right in and joined the conversations and shared scriptures. I love when brand new miss...
